LCSCA High School Scholarship Criteria 2021

This scholarship is in memory and honor of a beloved and outstanding School Counselor, Susan
Shoemaker. Mrs. Shoemaker was a School Counselor in the Lee County School District for over 30 years, who greatly influenced many students to meet their potential. The funds were raised through LCSCA to sponsor students in their passage to further their education (college or career training).

Two $400.00 scholarships are available to two graduating high school seniors in Lee County.

Scholarship Subject: How a School Counselor has made a difference in my life.
Deadline to submit: Friday, May 07, 2021

Requirements:

• Be sure to clearly name the School Counselor and the school in your essay. *The School Counselor   that you write about can be from any level (High, Middle, or Elementary).

• Follow directions carefully and stay on the identified topic.

• 500 Word Essay; typed.

• DO NOT INCLUDE YOUR NAME in your essay. Provide only the requested identifying information in the form below.

Criteria for award:

• Personal Recommendation letter needed from administrator or teacher (Principal, Asst. Principal School Counselor or Dean) at your school. Please have person recommending email letter to LCSCA President: JenniferMedl@leeschools.net

• Good attendance and good discipline records this school year.

• Quality of written essay (Grammar and Spelling).

• Ability to stay on topic.

• Depth of response; specificity and clear understanding.

• Detailed explanation of how this scholarship will help the student and the student’s future education plans.

To help you frame your essay cover the following questions:

1. How did a School Counselor impact your educational/personal or social experience and where are you now?

2. How did this School Counselor help you with your future plans?

3. How will this scholarship help you with your educational plans?

4. How would you like to help others in the future?
